Palm Sunday
This Palm Sunday message invites us to reconsider what it truly means to declare Jesus as Lord. We journey through the triumphal entry into Jerusalem, where crowds laid down palm branches and cried 'Hosanna'—which literally means 'save us now.' But this wasn't just a celebration; it was a profound acknowledgment of Jesus' authority over every aspect of life. The sermon walks us through Jesus' demonstrated power over death in its various stages—from the recently deceased daughter of Jairus, to the funeral procession of the widow's son, to Lazarus who had been dead four days. Each miracle reveals increasing authority, culminating in Jesus' own resurrection. The symbolism of riding a donkey into Jerusalem carries deep cultural significance: while kings on horses declared war, kings on donkeys proclaimed peace and prosperity. Jesus came as the humble king, yet with complete authority over nature, disease, demons, and death itself. The challenge presented is sobering: many people will miss heaven by nine inches—the distance between head and heart. Intellectual acknowledgment isn't enough; we must genuinely surrender to His lordship, placing ourselves under His authority. This means more than calling Him Savior; it means following Him as Lord, taking up our cross daily, and allowing Him to work transformation in our lives.
