CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICES - DECEMBER 24TH - 3PM & 5PM

Lion of Judah - Week 1

Dec 21, 2025    Pastor Fred Massie

This powerful message invites us to encounter Jesus not merely as the gentle Lamb of God, but as the Lion of Judah—a figure of untamed authority, fearless power, and unmatched dominion. Drawing from Genesis 49, we explore Jacob's prophetic blessing over Judah, foretelling that from this tribe would come a ruler whose scepter would never depart, whose kingdom would have no end. This prophecy finds its fulfillment in Jesus Christ, the one whom all nations will honor. The imagery of the lion reminds us that Jesus is not domesticated or manageable—He's dangerous in His holiness, yet profoundly good. Through the allegory of Aslan in The Chronicles of Narnia, we see a beautiful picture of this paradox: a lion who cannot be tamed but can be trusted because of His goodness. The message challenges us to move beyond comfortable familiarity with Jesus and to recognize His absolute authority over our lives. Are we willing to surrender control? Are we ready to kneel before the Lion and drink from the only stream that truly satisfies? This Christmas season, we're reminded that the baby in the manger was not the end of the story but the beginning of a coronation—the arrival of the one true King who came to claim us, not to crush us.
